Why French IRL?
French in real life. That’s what I’m going for with this site. It’s the most important French to understand, whether you’re a student or you’re traveling or living in France. It’s more than what you hear in a classroom, on a teacher’s Youtube channel, or with your friends in class. It’s French as it existing in the wild.
Goodbye Bitesize French, hello FrenchIRL
There were a couple reasons to say goodbye to the old name. I wanted to respect BBC’s bite size program, which I didn’t know about until after I had created the project.
The word “bite” in French does not have the greatest connotation, and that sure didn’t fit our goals.
The clips (and our logo too) will stay the same – bitesize chunks of larger audio. I see the goal as understanding it all in real life, and that’s the main goal.
We think it suits us.
